The Dissemination of Fountain Design Technology

The Dissemination of Fountain Design TechnologyDissemination Fountain Design Technology 67065400966877828626.jpg Throughout the European countries, the principal means of dissiminating practical hydraulic facts and fountain design ideas were the circulated pamphlets and illustrated books of the time, which added to the evolution of scientific technology. An unnamed French water fountain engineer became an internationally celebrated hydraulic innovator in the later part of the 1500's. With Royal mandates in Brussels, London and Germany, he started his career in Italy, building know-how in garden design and grottoes with built-in and imaginative water hydraulics. In France, towards the end of his lifetime, he penned “The Principle of Moving Forces”, a publication that became the fundamental text on hydraulic mechanics and engineering. Replacing vital hydraulic breakthroughs of classical antiquity, the publication also highlights modern hydraulic technologies. Notable among these works were those of Archimedes, the creator of the water screw, a mechanized means of transferring water. Two hidden containers heated up by sunlight in a room adjacent to the ornamental water fountain were shown in an illustration. The heated water expands and subsequently ascends and closes the pipes consequently activating the fountain. Garden ponds as well as pumps, water wheels, and water feature concepts are talked about in the publication.

Anglo-Saxon Grounds During the Norman Conquest

Anglo-Saxon Grounds During the Norman Conquest The advent of the Normans in the later half of the eleventh century significantly modified The Anglo-Saxon ways of living. The Normans were better than the Anglo-Saxons at architecture and horticulture when they came into power. But there was no time for home life, domesticated architecture, and decoration until the Normans had overcome the whole region. Castles were more basic constructions and often erected on blustery hills, where their tenants spent both time and space to exercising offense and defense, while monasteries were large stone buildings, mostly situated in the widest, most fertile hollows. Gardening, a quiet occupation, was impracticable in these unproductive fortifications. Berkeley Castle, perhaps the most unspoiled model of the early Anglo-Norman style of architecture, still exists in the present day. It is said that the keep was introduced during William the Conqueror's time. An enormous terrace encompasses the building, serving as an obstruction to assailants attempting to excavate under the castle walls. On one of these terraces lies a quaint bowling green: it's coated in grass and flanked by an old yew hedge that is formed into the shape of rough ramparts.

Characteristics of Garden Statues in Archaic Greece

Characteristics of Garden Statues in Archaic Greece The first freestanding sculpture was improved by the Archaic Greeks, a distinguished accomplishment since until then the only carvings in existence were reliefs cut into walls and columns.Characteristics Garden Statues Archaic Greece 90831334070605892.jpg Most of these freestanding sculptures were what is known as kouros figures, statues of young, attractive male or female (kore) Greeks. The kouroi were believed by the Greeks to represent beauty and were sculpted with one foot leading and an uncompromising firmness to their forward-facing poses; the male statues were always strapping, brawny, and undressing. In about 650 BC, the differences of the kouroi became life-sized. During the Archaic time, a great time of change, the Greeks were developing new sorts of government, expressions of art, and a larger awareness of people and cultures outside Greece. Equivalent to many other periods of historical unrest, arguments were commonplace, and there were struggles between city-states like The Arcadian wars, the Spartan invasion of Samos.
